There's a kind of satisfaction that you get from growing your own food. Yesterday, I harvested the water spinach from my back balcony and stir fried it. Amazing that all this food grew from seeds that barely fit a teaspoon.
@liztai The best feeling isn’t it?! I grow more every year. We are still deep in winter but I am planning and buying seeds and have started some stuff inside. Can’t wait!
@bowreality So satisfying! I've always gardened, but earnestly began to improve my skills when the pandemic hit and veges were in short supply. Now I can't stop hehe
@bowreality Awesome. Yeah veges have gotten SO expensive where I am :( I have Brazilian spinach, ginger, salad leaves and water spinach. Each harvest is worth about RM4 in the stores. It's nuts. (For context, it used to be RM1-2)
@liztai Definitely a skill to have. I go in waves but stuff is getting so expensive now I am all in. And it tastes so much better too. We started growing potatoes a few years ago and I can’t buy them anymore. We go for a while without because the ones in the stores don’t even compare. I rather eat none before I eat the bought ones 🤷🏻♀️
@wjjunyor I was useless before too but you make mistakes and learn! If there's one lesson I'll give people is this - always use the best soil you can. Soil found in our gardens often have diseases, pests and contaminants, so I just buy the best soil I can and then work from there.
@liztai Here as well. They wanted $11 for 6 peppers last time (usually $6-7) so I am trying my hand at peppers this year! A pack of seeds is cheap enough to try! Lettuce and cucumber were so expensive last spring as well so I bought more seeds. Hadn’t tried cucumbers yet and it was so easy to grow last summer!
@bowreality My dad was in love with his cucumbers! He was so happy with each of them eventhough we barely ate them haaha. Happy growing. It's so rewarding :)
