     @TheConversationUS @victorpickard public funding of media puts it squarely under the control of peevish assholes from Montana and Alabama. Look how many times assholes have threatened funding for NPR and PBS everytime they don't like something.

     "Public funding" as in "the actual public" can work. 'Political government funding" doesn't work in the US and many other places.
