   Beating up your kids is not the way to educate them. A lot of people believes that by making them scared of being hurt, they will behave. That's not education, that's terror. You're essentially a monster to your kids.
   
   You educate them by making them understand and realize about their mistakes. I remember as a kid, one of my mother "friends" took me to the park. And I had the brilliant idea of squashing ants like a maniac.
   
   When she told my mother, my mother scolded me. She didn't hit me or anything, but she really put it in a way, by also being a little bit more dramatic, that made me understand that hurting things wasn't good. And I still remember that to this day.
   
   If she didn't do that and instead hit me, I wouldn't have understood shit. Would I've been scared of doing that again? As a kid, sure. At least as long as I was being watched. But after hitting puberty and going through my mandatory rebelious phase, I could very well have become a monster myself.
   
   Luckily I actually had parents, in some way. But the same can't be said of nowadays kids.

     @enigmatico there is a whole method to corporal punishment but sadly its somewhat intricate and most people are just like "oh you said words time for a beating."
     
     its supposed to be highly structured and especially never done in anger.
