In a move that'll put a chill on IVF providers in the state, Alabama says cryo-frozen IVF embryos are living children.
So: if anything happens that destroys them, prospective parents can sue companies for "wrongful death of a child".
(Now I'm wondering if companies could do the reverse and extort clients to pay for keeping the unused embryos on ice indefinitely lest they'd be reported for pulling the plug on their "children"?)
