In order to combat the recent increase in nuisance behavior, Misskey.io has introduced a measure that will not accept @mentions, replies, or renotes from users on other servers that no Misskey.io user follows. I have decided to give it to you.
With the implementation of the measures, users of other servers will need to be followed by Misskey.io users in order to maintain communication with Misskey.io users. Therefore, if you are a user of another server who does not have followers on Misskey.io, please create an account on Misskey.io and follow your own server's account from there. If you are already followed by at least one Misskey.io user, you will not be affected by this measure.
We believe that this measure will not cause communication problems in normal use, but if you experience any problems, please feel free to contact support. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to users of other servers, but we hope that you will understand that this is a temporary measure until the inconvenience subsides.
Additionally, if Misskey.io users follow users who are causing trouble, this measure will be less effective. Therefore, we ask that you avoid following accounts that engage in nuisance behavior. Please note that if we find that you are following an account that intentionally causes nuisance, we may impose restrictions on your account.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
@terryenglish mixed feelings... its bad for others and misskey.io users but on the other hand it is an easy change which can fix the issue and its temporary tho
@terryenglish MRF's are better but obiously not easy to implement so its understandable that they want a fix as early as possible and i think the path they have chosen is not that harmful, relatively speaking to the spam... i doupt that whitelist federation will be the new standard, that would fuck up the whole network
@Jain It seems to me it lurches us ever closer to whitelist federation. Hopefully they'll take a look at some of the other approaches including yours and come to a better solution.
@terryenglish you think so? Imho its one of the worst or even the worst... For a single user there were not many posts, but the amount of domains they use is much more than before
