tiktok is a dystopian hellscape. the tiktok obsession with the idea that aging is the worst thing ever is so ingrained that skincare influencers providing instructions on how to smuggle black market prescription anti acne medication via the mail because it can make you look younger (whilst also increasing potential for sun damage and skin cancer due to the intensity of the medication) is basically just passively accepted in that space. i didnt even realize just how fucked up that is a common occurrence there until i deleted the app

this applies especially to women and young girls but is also spreading regardless of gender there as well
the perception that your life ends when you turn 30 is so common, and the idea of having a single wrinkle or fine line is like the end of the world. going so far that people will literally comment when they notice you have sun damage on videos in the most mean spirited way possibleGreenSkyOverMe (Monika) repeated this. -

aging isnt a curse yall, you dont turn into a frog when you hit your 30s i promise. (unless my mutuals can attest to otherwise i guess...)
its more than ok to want to take care of your skin, and its good to want to prevent skin cancer! but people age. thats a thing that happens and thats ok. embrace your wisdom and others as well.
