@fishidwardrobe @oliphant I disagree. I think part of the deal with having an open protocol is that we have permissionless implementation. You don't have to ask anyone's permission to connect your social network to the rest of the fediverse. If there are people on the fediverse who don't want to interact with you, they have tools at their disposal (rejecting follows, blocking) that are pretty easy to deploy.

Of course if it does harm, it's probably not ethical.
My POV: I'm not convinced that this does a lot of harm. But it's not ethical.
