     @arnelson In JavaScript it often seems arbitrary what is and isn't an async function.

     @caekislove @arnelson There's a slight overhead to async functions that could maybe add up if everything was async. But it feels arbitrary as the programmer to be making that call. It should be like an SQL query planner where the language decides when to do it... maybe.

     @alex @arnelson I think the original idea was "everything should be async!" but then the people who had to actually use the language to make stuff were like "no, that's insane".
