   @bnys having a hardware mute switch does wonders for this it my experience

   jvc gumy gamer is portable and cheap, for more comfort look for an over ear set where raising the mic boom mutes it

     Anyone have recommendations for headphones/headset that will let me sit in a somewhat lively cafe and still come through in work calls?
