I wonder if they told those hostages and their families that they killed 67 unrelated civilians as a diversion for their rescue. That is a hard calculus to live with.
First, I suggest that you don't believe Hamas about the numbers of casualties and certainly not about whether they were all civilians.
Second, Palestinian terrorists took these Israeli hostages from Israel into Gaza and into a civilian neighborhood in Rafah. Israel didn't choose where this, or any other battle will be. That was the choice of the terrorists.
@bdsint@berniethewordsmith there was a negotiated ceasefire on the table that Netanyahu declined. That was the other option for getting these hostages freed. The Netanyahu government very much has chosen high Palestinian casualties over a negotiated settlement.
