narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: (hj@shigusegubu.club)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 00:14:30 JST narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: @adiz @catto @Skoll3 i have one touch-specific device (self-made rockpro tablet) and it just works, but at that size it's often not very comfortable but it works for wall panel purposes i'm using it for. -

I really dislike how "dumbed down" Gnome keeps doubling-down on, but at least it had core functionality features included for touch-specific devices "out of the box" without the need for any additional setup or configuration.

Yet, because I want a virtual keyboard, I've opted to just go "all in" with Gnome on this mobile device. Still use KDE on my desktop. @catto@maidsin.space @Skoll3@nixnet.social

narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: (hj@shigusegubu.club)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 00:20:23 JST narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: @adiz @catto @Skoll3 for me the problem is often the opposite - screen is so small that i often want to hide the OSK and use physical keyboard but no easy way to hide OSK for whatever reason. -

On my 2-in-1, when I flip the device in half and make it a tablet or a "tent", the hardware keyboard gets automatically disconnected by the device itself, telling the OS that there isn't a keyboard, and therefore making the OSK available. When I unfold the device into a traditional laptop form, the physical keyboard is activated again and the OSK function goes away. Gnome should probably figure out a way to make the OSK both easily available/hidden regardless. @catto@maidsin.space @Skoll3@nixnet.social
