     If true, it makes it only worse: "you must install this software, we made sure, that we do not know, what it does."

     OTOH: During Covid measures many (all?) students in Germany installed root kits on there devices on request of their universities and as far as i know no professor protested against it.

     @mattly my current team (TBH it's not a company policy) expects me to have a #GooglePlayServices enabled phone so I can receive alerts during the rotational on-call duty. I asked for an on-call phone, but it was denied. Instead, I had to build another alerting channel. At least this time I had an alternative.
