I tried it your way; maybe I was a bad messenger, but I tried it. The fash are still winning. I'm still trapped in a propaganda model environment where folks around me can't even agree on what the root causes are, what the problems are, let alone how to solve them.
But they do understand "fascists are bad." So I'm there.

And if I'm being 100% honest, I think some of you honestly don't care. You don't see "stopping the fascists" as a net good because you don't believe the nazis are going to kill you. You hate liberals more than nazis because you don't really believe the nazis are what they obviously are, and you've forgotten that "liberals" means your Auntie who wants nice things but votes a certain way because she doesn't feel she has a choice.
It's still a game to you. "Look Mommy I'm doing POLITIKS."

I'm still talking to your Auntie. I'm doing it because I need her, and people like her, to understand what words actually mean, why we're here, and what we can do about it. And I can't do that if I'm dead because the fascists won already.
If you'd rather just talk to the same 9 people in your socialist reading club until the fascists kick in your door and drag you to a labor camp, that's your business.
I'm trying to win, the only way I know how, and stopping the fash is stage one of that goal

@AnarchoNinaWrites "Fascists are bad" seems like a good point to unify around and I don't trust anyone who isn't willing to do so.
