I am one of the only people I know that has an android phone out of everyone I know. Its a few people that have a different phone. Then mostly older people have android phones. I know someone who had an android phone since the galaxy SII days.
Though with the younger generation its getting worse with the iphones. Older people don't care as much.
It truly sucks but I don't care muchkaia likes this. -

ロミンちゃん (romin@shitposter.club)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Feb-2024 23:54:31 JST ロミンちゃん @amerika @Moon @kaia it was just an an extreme example to illustrate that everyone discriminates on what now may be seen as arbitrary social nonsense (clothes, watches, appearance, etc), what happens is that phones are too new and people still act shocked at the notion of them being used as status symbols -

Depends on whether they could do the job well.
I am sort of old school California agnostic on a lot of things. If they are the right person to do the job well, almost everything else is not as important. -

Maybe that is part of it, but we are also seeing a shift where many luxury brands are getting identified with the 'hood.
For example, people switched to Tesla from Mercedes as their ideal of a luxury car. -

Old brands tend to move from being elite to being commonplace over time.
That ruins their utility as signaling.
As much as I hate Apple (left the cult in '87) part of it also has to deal with iPhones being easy to use. -

Perhaps. I trust Tom Wolfe would have had something insightful to say here.
It seems to me that "retard-proof" is a synonym for "designed for retards."
However, I like a few things about Apple... the works-out-of-the-box, the aesthetics, the idea of joy in using devices.
Even if I hate Apple and know that Steve Jobs, like Chuck Schuldiner, actually died of AIDS.ロミンちゃん likes this.
