In the foreground, the surface of the pond at the Shin-en Garden is still, reflecting the wooden covered bridge and nearby snowy trees. The Taihei-kaku itself cuts horizontally across the center of the image from left to right; roof of the bridge and the curved layered rooftops of the small tower standing at its halfway point are covered in fresh snow, shining in the sun. Perched at the very top of the tower, the dark silhouette of a phoenix statue contrasts sharply with its bright surroundings.
