iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jan-2024 08:38:14 JST iced depresso i think i could actually make a chemistry system for a game out of geometric algebra.
break everything in to certain 'compounds' and each compound corresponds to a vector in a set, then put "effects" in various parts of this space, and then just tell players to go have fun figuring out how to make drugs i will not elaborate :neocat_floof_mug:-

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jan-2024 08:45:56 JST iced depresso come to think of it thats not how it works irl is it :ablobfoxhyperthinking:
i know certain compounds hate opposites but that turns in to heat or something as they cancel one another out. so probably if you mix two things that cause negation you would have to add a heat value too. however it would kind of simulate being able to make toxic substances safer by putting in other things that "neutralize" the badness.
i need to stop with the nerd shit :blobcatnerd: -

although i dunno that mixing random shit and drinking it would be seen as much fun. even though thats how chemistry works irl. -

Coyote (coyote@social.singing.dog)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jan-2024 08:47:17 JST Coyote @icedquinn That's sort of like but not really Potion Craft. Ingredients move the potion around a 2D space where there are specific points corresponding to potion effects. To differentiate different ingredients, they're each given their own parametric equation where the parameter is controlled by how much you crush and mix the ingredient.

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jan-2024 08:52:20 JST iced depresso @Coyote someone asked about explosives and then i realize this system doesn't actually account for effects like that at all :blobmojidrool: -

Coyote (coyote@social.singing.dog)'s status on Wednesday, 31-Jan-2024 09:14:31 JST Coyote @icedquinn You could add things like heat and pressure to your space, so a concoction under normal circumstances is inert, but if you hit it with a hammer it generates a ton of energy.
iced depresso likes this.
