I am 63, and am, patently, and against my better judgement, still alive.

I knew a man whose parents were African-American slaves in the United States.

So, from his parent, to him, to me, to you, that's not ancient history, my sister. That's three degrees of difference. That's your great-grandma, that's your congressperson or your senator, that's damned close to being that movie star you're so attached to.
