"We're not going to throw the case out because we don't want to be remembered by history as the Devil's own monsters, but also we're not going to order a cease fire either. Instead we're going to encourage Israel to genocide Palestinians more discreetly while we drag our feet for years in the hopes the IDF can finish this ethnic cleansing operation as quietly as possible and later we can all cry about how tragic the whole situation was." - international "justice."

Reminder: I do not want to hear any bullshit about "a war" or "Hamas." Even if every single thing the reactionary government in Israel said is true (and it's not) you are still talking about collectively punishing a PEOPLE (with murder) for the actions of a GROUP.

Buddy, that's a war crime/crime against humanity; and it always has been. Doesn't matter how fucking loud you yell at me about Hamas.

@AnarchoNinaWrites thank you for the synopsis, since I'm still recovering from my most recent COVID I will avoid reading this ruling

I would like to point out, however, that like you say they start small this is all practice for the rest of us, 'how to clean out a city'

@VoxofGod I literally do not understand how you can have a court ruling saying "yes this is probably genocide" and then say "but we're not going to order a cease fire."

If folks want to celebrate that, that is their business, but I find it nauseating and inhumane.

@AnarchoNinaWrites well first of all think this is practice to see if they can up the ante on the level of disinformation and go straight counterintuitive.

This period of time is going to test so much of my personal way of life because this stuff is impossible to ignore and I haven't eaten yet this morning....

Yeah I think you know I've been trying to get to the mountains for years

Since things have declined so much in that period of time I might not even be capable anymore #ApocalypseAlready

@AnarchoNinaWrites I agree, it's no different than putin bombing civilians in Ukraine, interestingly, watching a ww2 doc. the brits carpet bombed Hamburg civilians and of course we nuked 2 Japanese cities, the excuse always being sorry you got in the way of our war...

@AnarchoNinaWrites The only thing I can think is they were thinking that Israel would ignore them, and they don't have any way to enforce, so they 'saved face'. Which is a weak as shit... everything but I am just waking up, so maybe more will come to me once I read it all.

@joelving I'm holding out hope that the observers saying it is somehow BETTER than a ceasefire because it will lead to further legal action against a state recognized as committing a genocide, are right.

I am not certain tho, and I would have strongly preferred just ordering the ceasefire immediately as WELL as pursuing international/UN sanctions and punishments. People are in fact, dying.

It's such a weak response. At least it has a price wrt legitimacy. That seems the main win today.

That would be great. I'm having a hard time holding on to that hope since (as I understand it) any consequences would have to not be vetoed by the US in the Security Council - and that seems rather unlikely.
      But yeah, fingers crossed.

@joelving I am also skeptical. It doesn't sound right; nor do the arguments that if the court ordered the ceasefire and Israel didn't obey, that would somehow be worse, make much sense to me. I am trying to operate in good faith here, but I suspect the principle actors are not doing the same.
