     More likely they just replace us with third world immigration tbh. More cost-effective. Cynical but that is usually accurate.

     The modern method:
     
     1. Everyone is poor unless they find a corporate sponsor
     2. You can sell your body and get unpoor but not enough to escape unless you also have #1
     3. You can leave but there is noplace better to go
