I was told, "if you boycott every game that is made using any AI stuff, this will probably be your last year playing most games."

Two years back a bunch of photographers and musicians I followed decided NFTs were the future. I stopped buying their stuff.

NFTs died. Blockchain and crypto are dying.

It's within our power as consumers and creators to say "no."

When someone puts a knife to your throat (and that's what "AI" is to many creatives), you're not obliged to point out your carotid.

@Dandelion i'm not sure that comparison is going to hold up well. NFTs had/have basically no benefit to the game or production other than being a cash grab. Blockchains had *some* minor use in specific cases (like trading card games) but also, easily ignored.

AI is a pretty massive development accelerant, usable at many levels of production, and becomes harder to 'detect' every year. Four years ago they couldn't generate meaningful art at all. Now people assume everything painted by airbrush must be AI art.

Maybe it time to admin we need to kill capitalism :blobcatsip2:

@Dandelion esp. the range of where AI might be used.

if the writer used it as a line editor do you ban the game?
if the lead artist used it to generate concepts and then humans painted/modeled them do you ban the game?
if the artists drew the images and used img2img to finalize the polish do you ban the game?

there is a lot more to "we used AI in production" than people give the situation credit for.
