     @slyecho @novenary @marcan I'm well aware of this, in fact:
     - Friendica: Extensive BBCode support
     - Misskey: Extended Markdown
     - Pleroma: Twitter/Mastodon-style plaintext, basic Markdown, basic BBCode, raw HTML
     
     And Pleroma is the one I'm a developer of.

     @lanodan @novenary Mastodon itself and other apps will display the messages fine but there may be some "read more" button. It's also possible to have HTML formatting in posts as well, even if Mastodon itself does not enable adding it in its editor.

     You can check on some posts by @marcan for example for how it looks.

     @lanodan Well, I guess we are in agreement then that the default char limits on Mastodon are too small.
