   Arno Penzias, Nobel Prize winner (discoverer of big bang's residual radiation), my old boss and the reason my CV mentions a silver medal in archery, has died, aged 90. Although he did much more important things, for me his signature achievement was defending me not being fired from Bell Labs after Labscam.

     1. An weirdly conspiratorial way to phrase an exciting discovery that is not yet fully analyzed and may force us to reevaluate a lot of models and move cosmology and science forward.

     2. Irrelevant to the topic of someone's departed friend and a glorious anecdote to remember them by.

     I guess I live under a rock because I'd never heard of labscam. This is amazing. The connections of all the people involved is just blowing my mind this morning.

     Also TIL you can heckle P&T by shouting "I know Rob Pike!" at them during their show.
