   CMS page building tools have converged on a standard appeoach over the years: A page with metadata, a big ol’ region to stack horizontal design modules, an optional set of “nesting” components for anything that needs side-by-side action, and a novel name for said horizontal design components.

   So far I’ve seen them called planks, blocks, slices, blades, widgets, modules, paragraphs (!!!!), bricks, fragments, and patterns. These suckers have more aliases than a scene kid had forum handles.

     @sturobson Faaaascinating, it's great to see the idea set out explicitly as a philosophy — I knew it had started gaining traction around that time but didn't realize anyone had spelled it out!

     I'd argue they are not 100% synonyms, but they all describe slightly different patterns.

     @gu_stav Sometimes! The hazy cloud of somewhat-overlapping words we use from system to system to describe these concepts can DEFINITELY make it a little tricky to pin down sometimes.
