     @yngmar yeah, I think I did everything right. I also played with tension, but it didn't do much. I suspect it maybe just doesn't like the thread

     Of course this is with a special thicker thread, so maybe that's the issue. but it's a machine thread. idk

     tried sewing leather, straight stitch is five even with three layers, but I couldn't get zigzag to work well. No matter what settings I tried, it was skipping stitches. But that's fine, I don't need it for leather anyway
