Once again....just found out that my insurance company decided that according to them, I no longer fit the disabled enough to avoid work criteria, and they ended my disability payments as of the 10th.
Meaning, I have no NO income to pay bills, and rent and utilities are due RIGHT NOW.

Tomorrow I will get in touch with my local Social Security office and see if I can get info on the status of my appeal of my Federal disability benefits application rejection. It will have to be either that, or risking having to seek work, which would be iffy at best in my current medical condition. Even walking to the store leaves me dizzy.

I should note here that on Monday, I wrote and faxed to the claims representative for the insurance company that cut off my disability payments a letter requesting a full appeal of their decision. Once again, a reminder that this is a VERY SERIOUS SITUATION I am in.

Well....just received an email from my insurance company acknowledging the receipt of my appeal; they gave me 30 days to provide the updated medical information from my personal doctor for them to make a decision. After I send the info, they said they would make a final determination within 45 days.

The ironic thing is that the two year period where my disability eligibility is based on the most liberal standard of not being able to perform my former job doesn't expire until this June; then a slightly more stringent standard of "accepting any work" would apply in a reevaluation.

They -- meaning my insurance company -- could have simply let me have my funds until either I get approved of my Federal benefits (that's still ongoing under appeal), or reevaluate me under the new standard and let me keep my benefits until July. I guess they gotta make their bucks, though.

The other idiocy is that if I do get approved for Federal disability benefits, the insurance company says that they may claw back some or all of the benefit payments I received from them. I don't know what percentage they would take; the Fed benefits would be backdated to 1 year.
