@yogthos that's close to 2/3 orbital speed. And at 30km up, that's down to 1% atmospheric pressure. A lovely place to launch into space. An air breathing engine on a re-usable booster that flies and can land like a plane it could be great for launching a rocket powered glider with a payload the rest of the way to orbit.

This engine design integrates rotational and straight-line detonation across a wide speed range, which is claimed to be a world first and a revolutionary change in aerospace propulsion.
