     I'd rather pick a fight with someone telling me to use them constantly then actually use them. It's just so annoying and it's starting to get really weird now.

     I don't know that they've ever really served much of a purpose rather than being a historical whimsy. it's not as though all languages out there bother with them. then for some reason people went and started obsessing over these seemingly pointless things
     
     stop and ask yourself, what concrete distinctions are these terms actually communicating? language is a tool after all

     me: gender appears to be nothing more than made up shit to me
     
     the entire thing is (imo) analogous to a slap fest over what the power output of a phaser is or if an unobtanium shield can block superman's ray beam or whatever
     
     I think the more relevant question is what the motivations are for people to exert so much effort to force these things on everyone around them
