   so out of pure desperation I started watching Frieren.... its mostly fine.

   There is one character who is written horribly and it surprised me that it's not stark (admittedly its due to low expectations but still)

   Fern is the most weirdly written character in the show and it kinda smacks of bad writing.

     its unfortunate because I WANT to like what they are doing here and I really REALLY want to like Fern but I absolutely do not and considering how biased I am in favor of female character it says something that I am going this hard.

     Fern always being generic anime isekai girl character just makes.... so little sense with her background its kinda surprising I've never seen anyone mention how the way she developed makes absolutely no sense.

     @Rasp I think Fern seems consistent? - She was raised by a priest, and spent zero time with boys her own age; so she projects her repressed thoughts onto Stark ("perv" "so small").
     - I think Heiter doted on her (based on the way she looks after Friren), and she *doesn't* feel loved in the same way by Friren (inscrutible) OR Stark (thoughtless) but takes it out on Stark since he's not "in charge"
