So I've been chatting with this guy who identifies as Libertarian. (Online dating app. I'm kinda just lucky to find a few non-republicans here.)

I don't know much about this political view. My personal opinion, while acknowledging knowing little about this ideology, is that we are a 2 party country, any 3rd party is a distraction, a throw away vote, and a bit irresponsible for the threat (to our democracy) we currently face.

What do we think, mastos? Educate me on what being Libertarian means.

    Be kind. Please.

“…one of the things that makes political philosophy so amusing is that it’s mostly abstract. You can’t really prove anything — it’s just a never-ending argument about values. Every now and again, though, reality intervenes in a way that illustrates the absurdity of particular ideas.”

Speaking at a group level: I see most Libertarians wanting to keep the benefits of living in society, without responsibility of contributing, and without being responsible for how their behaviors affect society. Refusing to examine where they are located in social system, what privileges they have etc. Very much like Republicans... EXCEPT, with an added wish to be seen as rebellious and "free," wanting aesthetic & street cred of Anarchists but not the work and self-sacrifice.
