   BREAKING: AIRSPACE WARNING OF ‘EXTREME RADIATION HAZARD’

   A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued for Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

   Airspace north of the airport's runway is now a hazardous area, posing potential life-threatening risks.

   To avoid extreme radiation hazards, all flights are directed to use southern approach and departure routes.

     Did some more research and found nothing about this except a couple of sketchy news sites.

     My company has crews working on Kwajalein so I will inquire about this tomorrow

     I have a call into the office about Kwajalein and haven't heard anything yet.

     I can't find any official announcement and have seen this attributed to ICAO (icao.int/pages/default.aspx) which has nothing about it on their website. ICAO uses the Defense Internet NOTAM Service (DINS) which is a service of the FAA (notams.faa.gov/dinsQueryWeb/)

     The only other potential sauce I can find is a couple sketchy news sites.

     I think this is fake.

     So on 8kun tonight I caught up on some anon digs about Kwaj.

     I am still not convinced, but apparently DoD has been building a "Space Fence" device there and it has gone operational.

     The pics are the post with the most info.
