@bitzero Interestingly in the Three Body #CDrama they treated other countries like the US as partners rather than "China saves the world". I think the Chinese had a more generous view of them and even like them. Well things may be changing now thanks to all the negativity from the West 😆

Well, there is a big deal of.. let's call it "social-washing" or woke-ism... in many American movies, now. Sometimes it's just marketing, to reach a broader and more diverse audience, sometimes not.

I don't live in the States so my opinion doesn't actually count, but for what I see having more media productions where American WASP values are questioned and criticized has little consequences on society. Again, I'm not there so I'm not the right guy here.

Here in Europe there is of course a different collection of values and media tropes. Specifically in Italy, we've had for decades the strongest Communist party of the Western Europe: this mattered in fostering a society where the "Americans are the best, Russians and Chinese are the worst" trope never worked. In movies as in anything else.

After all, we invented spaghetti western movies where baddies and good guys aren't that different. John Wayne was rolling in his grave, I guess.

That said, in my first contacts with Chinese modern media it was interesting - and refreshing - to see different dynamics and yes, let the East save the world. I can't say the same for Korean media, where everything seems (to me) a bit too staged.
