I'm really annoyed that both Microsoft and Paypal have defaulted to not asking for your password, and just sending a code to your phone/email. What was the point of the password? Then, when I say, "No, let me enter my password", it still immediately makes me get the code from my email anyway!

However, I completely lost one of my Google accounts via this scheme, used only for YT watching on Roku for years. Up to '22 switching to new Roku was trivial, just sign in and done. Roku died, I got new one, same process, log in Roku, must login on PC, to login on PC code sent to email, code entered , ... no you can't log in you MUST use device on which this account was used previously. Well, that Roku is dead, well, no access ever
