   When we moved to Portland, being from the south, I was looking forward to learning more from activists in that area.

   What I actually learned is that Portland is even MORE racist than the south, the "resistance" were nothing but a bunch of spoiled white kids, and electing anyone up there with any kind of snap is a joke.

   I will never go back there.

     *whispers* We can't be the only ones who are looking at the mayoral field and seeing two men who never step up loudly for their own ethnic minority group.

     The tradtional local obsession with "safe" ethnic minorities who timidly keep their heads down and mouths shut is another reason why we can't have nice things.

     Especially when people without local roots consistently get elected as mayor for being both "safe" and white as a fresh ream of copier paper.

     Let's do a whole lot better.
