feld (feld@bikeshed.party)'s status on Friday, 05-Jan-2024 11:06:41 JST feld LiFi is really coming! The US Navy is using it on ships now for secure onboard comms.
We're probably gonna see it make it to consumers and be on our phones before the end of the decade. Incredible.-

Charles Corbett (chas@tty0.social)'s status on Friday, 05-Jan-2024 12:06:10 JST Charles Corbett @feld soon well have phones that charge wirelessly all the time, receive their internet from the ambient light, and monitor our health stats continuously.
At some point, someone is going to die somewhere and their phone is going to keep charging, and uploading their deceased vitals to a cloud server somewhere for an exorbitant amount of time before they are found.
