When I lived in North London, I often drove past this pub and wondered what it was like - a small traditional pub in a residential street in N21. I popped in this afternoon. It's what I expected - a small, cosy, quiet local pub with a set of regulars in their favourite table. And, what I expected: unless it finds a buyer, it's to close soon. They're taking the Christmas decorations down today as I drink my pint. I hope they're not the last decorations that go up here. #travel #london #pub

Sean Bala (seanbala@mas.to)'s status on Thursday, 04-Jan-2024 02:08:15 JST Sean Bala There was an Irish pub in my neighborhood in #Chicago called Grafton Street. Cozy chairs, warm fires, music on Sundays and no televisions. I loved it. One day I went and saw it was completely packed. I asked the bartender what was going on and they said that the owners announced that they were closing. That was its last day. I wish I had discovered it sooner. Rumor is that the Old Town School of Folk Music is going to buy it and start up the pub again. These places are special and rare.

It does still feel new and does not have the same "lived-in" feel of Grafton Street but we really like the coziness and what they are trying to do. They have a coffee shop in the morning and a pub in the afternoon / evening. We could definitely see it become a neighborhood staple if it keeps going.
