   Can we just stop using Discord and go back to using forum sites?

   I realize it's (comparatively) super easy to set up, but y'all realize it's just going to bite us all in the ass as soon as someone at Discord decides they need to turn up the profit ratio?

   It's a ticking time bomb. The whole thing is going to follow the enshittification process, and anything of value on there is going to be lost/sold/destroyed.

     @malcircuit i have this tingling sensation that in a nearby universe #discourse is changing the discourse (or reducing the online discord, pick your pun :-).

     We "just" need to somehow tunnel to that universe, either by federating all these instances at the server level, or, maybe easier, at the client level. One of the important usability features of #discord is that you can jump into any of multiple communities with a single click. Actually #matrix offers that too.

     @malcircuit I don't think anything will change. The info in Discord is never well organized, so expecting them to take the time to organize and publish it on a platform so it won't be destroyed when Thanos clicks his fingers is wishful thinking 😢

     @darren @kariboka I originally did fork kbin and created https://kglitch.social as a result. However that proved to be a dead end.

     So I made this instead: https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi
