   Zuckerberg and co. take all credit for destroying society for profit but it always takes two to tango.

   Every penny of the #bigtech billions was gladly paid by countless corporate advertisers who saw an industrial scale machinery to track, analyse, influence and exploit human behavior and said: fuck yeah, we dig that.

   The digital robber barons found a socioeconomic system already rotten to the core: dehumanizing, mono-cultured, financialized, exploitative, and implemented the next level down.

     Individuals and specific tech manifestations are seldom the driving force for societal change (good or bad). Mere cogs that enable but do not power newfangled motions, newly laid wires that route pre-existing potentials.

     If it wasn't for Zuck and his php scripts or the Googlers with their pagerank it would have been a monkey with a spreadsheet. The system had already evolved the #surveillancecapitalism DNA. It merely needed to express the phenotype

     btw it is thus also for any positive change
