"At the brambled path’s mouth I now stand steady
With the wounds and scars and scrapes of years gone past.
But for the next length I now am ready
To live my life by my own compass, at last.

Goodbye, goodbye, 2023, farewell!
Onto me, you embossed yourself the deepest.
When the ball drops and when rings the new year’s bell,
I will forever and ever honour your bequest!"
