@Shadowman311 @Blouie DO NOT do that, even if you have the benefit of castle doctrine, it is sketchy if they are not actively trying to force entry. Call the cops, tell them there is someone armed, and make sure your family is not on the first floor by the time they show up. Make it the cops' problem, doesn't need to be yours.
Some states might give you the benefit since the perp is armed, but if you could have just called the cops and let them handle it, the DA will use the evidence you just provided against you because you CHOSE to kill the perp when other options existed, even if the gun in their hand makes their intent clear. I hate to be 'that guy' but castle doctrine has its limits and can be subverted by a clever DA.
Which is why you don't record audio, because then you can give them one warning to f*ck off, and when they threaten to break the door down/kill you, you can blast them and no one can contest the veracity since the video can't tell much and there's no audio. 😃

@Blouie If this happens to you record a video of the perp, and blow a hole through the door with the biggest caliber gun you own, no warning, just kill them, if you're in a castle doctrine state (as you should be) that should pretty much be an open and shut case if the DA is stupid enough to even bring charges against you.
