   @smurthys there is no sugar coating it, our online "social" media are an embarrassment, abysmally not fit for purpose.

   This was maybe understandable for the first generation of forums that followed the invention of the web.

   But things went deeply south with algorithmic #adtech platforms. Creating a sane, convivial, truly social space for people to bond and thrive was not remotely the objective.

   The #fediverse undoes some of the damage but it is still a rather primitive place.

     A frequent detractor lurks but post anyway.

     It is sad though grown people have to second guess themselves because of other grown people.

     Online bullying marauds in many forms. Especially beware experts and elites.

     PS: If you come back with "more self-confidence", you're missing the point. An online bully is different in that they do not care about others confidence.
