   @cindyweinstein yea, I know, it must be so embarrasing, as a modern Republican, to have to admit Republicans once supported, even fought a war, over the idea that blacks were equal human beings rather than 3/5ths human chattel.

     The campaign of Ron DeSantis recirculated video of the exchange on social media, adding the comment, “Yikes.”

     That #Haley would say this (or not say this) is deplorable, contemptible, absurd. #DeSantis's response is almost laughable until the second we remember his position re: enslaved people benefiting from #slavery, his #racist approach to teaching #Black history (eviscerating AP AfAm studies ), & the #BookBans (so many written by Black authors).
