   If I had a couple spare months with nothing else to work on, I could just port all the frontend logic at once

     Oh I could could rewrite the in-page user view to user the Magnetar API
     
     Except, ...
     
     It triggers a refetch of the user via the old API, something I can't do yet due to no AP logic
