@dsfgs your over thinking it ;). Each git commit has a full email and date, too. You may not even be using github, but anyone may mirror your repo there. In effect, much like facebook shadow profiles, it becomes a record of what people even on other unrelated sites are doing.

gnutelephony (gnutelephony@floss.social)'s status on Friday, 22-Dec-2023 17:45:07 JST gnutelephony @dsfgs in theory you can rewrite git history, so you could do a tool to rewrite timestamps, too. Imagine a team that also maintains truly anonymous ids, too. I had thought about how to do a true and purely anonymous git team when I originally had considered secretly restarting my secure communications work at the end of last decade, but I didn't do so at the time. Instead I did stuff that I knew would draw little interest from the 3 letter agency and sv crowd but can fit other human needs.

Another great point! Is there an add-on for #git that takes the #timingInformation (other than year and month) 'out' of the commit itself?
Failing that is there a user-friendly method in git for #farbling time information?

Torrenting #patches and updates over #I2P, is probably the closest thing to anonymous contribution. The firewall that blocks #CAGEMAFIA, namely DigitalFeudalismCounterAction, was first distributed by #torrent, iwrc. Though I think the torrent tracker may have other issues based on what we've discussed above.
