@osnews at first I had thought they were deprecating the cmd shell in favor of powershell only, but I guess this is not that. After reading the article I am still not really sure what "legacy console" even really was, and anyway it is not a platform I use.

The legacy console mode is deprecated and no longer being updated. In future Windows releases, it will be available as an optional Feature
