For a few glorious years, Vizio sold a line of TVs that had Chromecast/Apple Airplay onboard, a sparse TV remote, and nothing else. They even bragged about "no crapware, your phone is the remote" in their marketing. It would start up instantly when turned on.
A few years later, the temptation proved too great. They pushed an update overnight without warning, and it loaded a full "Smart OS" full of streaming bloatware to enhance my fucking experience. They even shipped me a smart TV remote with all the streaming buttons on it. Noe the TV takes three times longer to start up. FML.Alex Gleason likes this.
