@bob indeed, the precious snowflakes fear the masses, whether landless peasants seeking basic social justice or those who do not wish to see human extinction from climate change. On Easter island elites proved they are willing to imperil everyone to cut down one tree more. And, combined with capitalism, the invisible hand always wore an iron gauntlet.

And the usual response of pressure on elites is some version of despotic rule.
