Talk Is Cheap But Who Will Pay For New York's Virtue Signalling?
Pearls before swine, if you ask me. However, I wasn't aware that New York was a vigorous slave holding state. I sure that they had slaves in New York but why are they suddenly at the forefront? After all slavery was legal in the American colonies and the United States once. Which, as I'm wont to say, a thing isn't wrong, because it's illegal, a thing is illegal because it's wrong. I'm sure that I could also say, that a thing isn't right because it's legal either, but that's chalk and cheese, I suppose.
The taxpayers of New York, have some serious soul searching to do, after all, that miserable witch like woman, their governor barely won her last election, election fraud, notwithstanding. Obviously, I have no proof of election fraud in New York State, I don't want to get arrested or sued now, do I? However, I do have opinions and that's just one of them.
New York, like many of us, could care less about the welfare of black people or the descendants of slaves. I know I don't lose any sleep over it. Shit happens, fucking deal with it. By all means, give those morons a billion inflated dollars up front in a lump sum, it will make no difference, since some people can never run from themselves and will continue to make pitiful decisions and like water, will always find their level.

@Marshall Sutherland (Posting with Hubzilla) New Yorkers may be oblivious to the realization that the question even exists in this case and one is quite sure that the reasonable among them would indeed, think that the slate would be clean for their efforts.
However, one doubts very much, that anything will ever clean the slate, or close the case, since the purpose of extortion is the same, I think, as blackmail and the gang will always want continuous streams of payments until they've exhausted all, including every pound of flesh.

A question NYers should ask is "If we do this, is the slate finally wiped clean or will this be like the case of an extortionist who always has new demands?"

@Marshall Sutherland (Posting with Hubzilla) I'm skeptical of all parties involved, to uphold any agreements made on this matter. It wouldn't be inconceivable for one or any of the said parties, to renege on any commitment to serve their individual or collective ends.
Indeed, how did those slaves end up in the new world, if not sold by some other entity? Who will hold the sellers of those slaves, from within Africa at the time, responsible for their involvement in the trade and do they themselves, or their descendants, have a requirement for paying reparations also? Also, if so, which governing agency will be responsible for its enforcement?
Also when is ancient Rome, Egypt, Greece, Persia and a host of empires be, required to compensate the descendants of their long past slaves? It's an absurd notion that is not serious, yet the proponents of this farce, means us to take it as such.

If I remembered where I had seen the idea, I would give credit for it. I think they also suggested that if such payment were made, that all other programs meant to compensate should be done away with as part of the "clean slate".
It was probably posed as a question to the recipients. "If we do this, will you give up any current or future claims of compensation?"
