   Twitter has lost 16% of it's active user base and activity has dropped 30% since Elon Musk took ownership.

     This is a desperation move by musk after the advertiser squeeze. I've said in the past that the first thing Musk should do is unban all the people unfairly banned from twitter. He didn't do that, instead he continued the moderation policies of the past. Trump should have been back on twitter day one of Musk ownership but he didn't do it because of cowardice.
     
     This is not a random opinion. Apparently the only year twitter was profitable was in 2018 or 2019, a year where Trump was on twitter. No other controversies, no other celebrities could be really attributed to this success. If Musk did get Jones, Trump, and everyone else he could have kept his changes and journos AND users would be paying big bucks to give their own boosted soy takes under their posts. But now Musk has to claw his way back from behind at this point and it may be too late.
