Minnesota’s new state flag design finalized
Unless the Legislature takes action to undo the work, the new Minnesota flag will start flying on May 11. It features the shape of Minnesota in a deep blue and topped with an eight-point star facing north. The design also features a solid block of light blue to represent Minnesota’s water.

@w7voa LOVE IT. Really striking and distinctive. I could see the start and colors used by ordinary people to represent the state. And its 1000x better than the old flag.

The Midwest has some awful flags. They recently redesigned the Cook County flag in Chicago. It used to be a map of the county with the words Cook County on a white background. The new one is wonderful (if maybe a little too close to the Chicago flag):

You can see the old one and the new one here:

        Flag of Cook County, Illinois
The flag of Cook County, Illinois, nicknamed "I Will", consists of a light blue pall with a green border on a field of white. Six red stars with seven points each sit in a circle at the flag's hoist side, drawing cues from the city flag and other symbols of the county seat of Chicago and its in-county suburbs. Cook County is the largest county in Illinois by population. The current flag was adopted on June 14, 2022 (Flag Day), and was designed by Drew Duffy, a former student at Glenbrook South High School, with the guidance of graphic designer Martin Burciaga from the Cook County Bureau of Administration. Symbolism The flag design is as follows: A white background with a blue (outline in green) version of Chicago's municipal device oriented horizontally from the hoist side of the flag left to right. The blue portions of the key represent waterways of Cook County. The northern bodies of water include: the North Shore Channel, the Skokie River and Lagoons, the Des Plaines River, and the North Branch of the Chicago River. The southern bodies include the Grand Calumet River, the Illinois River, Salt Creek...
