Don't take a job where the previous employee was fired for speaking out against the ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

@paul fuck you, you gaslighting piece of shit.
1.9M people are internally displaced in Gaza. The Palestinian population has been forcibly evacuated into a tiny sliver of land by the Egyptian border. They have been denied food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. Over half of residential units have been destroyed, along with most civil infrastructure like schools, hospitals, mosques, churches, and government buildings. 19,000 have been killed, and 50,000 are injured.

@evan oh my goodness. "Ethnic cleansing in Gaza". Come on, Evan. That's not even remotely true.

@paul Cabinet ministers like Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, Dichter, and Eliyahu have said that Nakba is the goal. Gamliel published a plan to push Palestinians into the Sinai in the Jerusalem Post. Netanyahu promised to murder every man, woman, child and domestic animal of the "Amalek".

@paul@digitalstuntfactory.com it's ethnic cleansing. Intentional, preplanned, and explicit.

@Alon every time a US official comes to Israel to scold them, there's an announcement that they're going to slow the extermination rate, and when he gets back on the plane home the destruction intensifies. It's a play so the US politicians can pretend they don't know what's going on.

@evan Yes, and those 1.9 million are about to be let back in; Israel recently announced that civilians will be permitted to return to the northern Gaza Strip gradually as combat intensity falls, which Israel wants to happen by late January and the US by the end of this year. (And Israeli ministers speaking out of turn go both ways, like when Eli Cohen, who is far more important than glorified minister without portfolio Gila Gamliel, said Israel was on a three week timer around three weeks ago.)

@Alon and, yes, I realize that the far-right Netanyahu government extends across the spectrum from dead-eyed occupation technocrats to sneering racist eradicationists. They even brought General Benny Gantz to the war cabinet. He only wants permanent apartheid, not even expulsion! What a rainbow coalition.

@Alon I'd be very happy to see the last steps of this ethnic cleansing -- the "humanitarian evacuations" into the Sinai, followed by refugee airlifts to Scotland, Canada, and the US -- aborted. I think there are factions in the government that know that it is too far. I hope, as it sounds like you do, that they prevail. But that does not excuse the current level of destruction.

@Alon the point is to immiserate the population and make Gaza unliveable so expulsions are more attractive. "There's nowhere to go back to, but there is hot soup and blankets and penicillin outside the gate." Roaming death squads that terrorise the population don't need to kill everyone; just make them leave.

@evan The level of physical destruction is disproportionate to the death toll. The IDF warns people to evacuate before destroying a building, to limit civilian casualties (the Hamas targets who are why they were going to bomb the building in the first place can get away too, but military intelligence is a contradiction in terms). So the buildings look like total devastation and then the death toll is like 0.3% of the Palestinian population (Iraq: 2% of Iraq's 2003 population).
